hot weather and insane traffic in HCMC — Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam:

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Too tired to write this on the day, so I am writing this the day after.

SAT
Arrived in Saigon, and passed customs without a problem.
Got bus 152 to pham ngo lau. On the way, watching the traffic.
To put it simply, the traffic works like a large crowd, and doesn't really stop, the only real rules, are that motorbikes must give way to buses and cars.
pedestrians can move in the traffic flow much like one would, when moving through a large crowd.

So we get off the bus at HCM central bus terminal and walk down to the hostel, which is actually on a side lane off the main road.
After checking in we went to this festival across the street to get dinner.
the food was averge and overpriced, we ended up having bbq skewered meat.

SUN
got up about 8 which is 9 singapore time. decided to go over to the ben thanh market, then go have lunch at xoi ga, and go over to the war remnants museum.

Ben thanh,
we wandered round the stalls for about 30 min, most of the stalls being over priced
then got a che my at one of the drink stalls, it is a lot like a chendol,

Xoi Ga
Sticky rice with chicken, was a little dry but still had a lot of flavour in the rice

War remnants museum,
Not exactly what I was expecting, but none the less still very sobering looking at all the pictures on the walls.

Lau De
We ordered this hot pot, that is much like steam boat and tasted quite similar
While we were waiting for the pot to arrive, the staff put a plate over the grill, and we thought that you were supposed to put the stuff on top of that.
It was only until the pot arrived that be realised what we were supposed to...

On the way back to the hostel we say a group of dogs cross a busy street that we were too scared to cross.

Che my
After we got back to the hostel, we dropped off our bags and walked over to a Che my store on the map, It tasted a little better than the one we had in the morning, I had the classic, and Ann had one with jelly and jack fruit
